Synopsis: Have you ever heard of the old Celtic legends of the Fae – beautiful, magical, deadly and a love of messing with humans just for kicks and giggles?
Welcome to my world.
What started out as a strange assignment, leads to one of the most gruesome murder mysteries of our times and my friends and I are set and determined to find out who is killing off Fae and Witches alike.
Couple of problems in the way – I hate the Fae and the Prince of the Dark Fae is bound and determined that I work for him. He’s a rude, overbearing egotistical ass with a compulsive need to possess, dominate and control me. Oh – did I mention that he is absolutely sex-on-a-stick gorgeous and he makes me feel things that I never ever wanted to feel for a Fae…every time he touches me or looks at me with those golden eyes seems to pull me further in under his spell, despite my better judgment.
My friends and I can’t trust anyone and nothing is as it seems on the surface – not even me.

Warning: Mature content and language not intended for anyone under the age of eighteen.

This book is not intended for anyone under the age of 18, or anyone who doesn’t like lip biting, throw your ass on the bed, tear your clothes off and leave you panting dominant alpha male characters. This is a dark, dangerous, intense, gritty and raw. Scenes are dark, disturbing, and scorching HOT. This book is a soul crushing, tear jerking, and leave you hanging on the edge of your seat fast paced book.
Side Effects may include, but are not limited to: Drooling, lip biting, wet panties, crying, and screaming at the author. If any of these things happen, do not seek medical attention—get the next book in the series and enjoy the ride!

Opinion: My mind is blown. I am so confused. WhAt Is HaPpEnInG. Must keep reading. I read Fighting Destiny in less than 24 hours. Between work and sleep, I had trouble stopping. I didn’t want to put it down.

This might be one of my new favorite series. This is right up there with ACOTAR. I am going to give an unpopular opinion and say that I think this book is better than the Fever series by Karen Marie Moning, sorry Karen and Mac. It’s a giant mix of romance, mystery, murder, action, adventure, fae, witches, vampires, and it is to die for.

Synthia is a strong, stubborn female lead. Ryder is tall, dark and mysterious. The unknown is real in this book. I can’t really tell you who the characters are because no one is as they seem. Literally. There is like one person who is actually what they think/say they are.

Be prepared for a wild ride. I tried to form theories and as of the end of Fighting Destiny they aren’t correct so it is definitely NOT predictable. I just purchased the second novel, Taunting Destiny, on my kindle.

This is definitely an 18+ novel. There is a little statement at the beginning warning against this. The whole thing is filled with romantic suspense and is not appropriate for the young, prying eyes.

Review: Wintersong (Wintersong #1) by S. Jae-Jones

I received a copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Book Details:

436 Pages

Published: February 7, 2017

Author: S. Jae-Jones

Synopsis: Beware the goblin men and the wares they sell.

All her life, nineteen-year-old Liesl has heard tales of the beautiful, mysterious Goblin King. He is the Lord of Mischief, the Ruler Underground, and the muse around which her music is composed. Yet, as Liesl helps shoulder the burden of running her family’s inn, her dreams of composition and childish fancies about the Goblin King must be set aside in favor of more practical concerns.

But when her sister Käthe is taken by the goblins, Liesl journeys to their realm to rescue her sister and return her to the world above. The Goblin King agrees to let Käthe go—for a price. The life of a maiden must be given to the land, in accordance with the old laws. A life for a life, he says. Without sacrifice, nothing good can grow. Without death, there can be no rebirth. In exchange for her sister’s freedom, Liesl offers her hand in marriage to the Goblin King. He accepts.

Down in the Underground, Liesl discovers that the Goblin King still inspires her—musically, physically, emotionally. Yet even as her talent blossoms, Liesl’s life is slowly fading away, the price she paid for becoming the Goblin King’s bride. As the two of them grow closer, they must learn just what it is they are each willing to sacrifice: her life, her music, or the end of the world.

Opinion: I had heard mixed reviews going into Wintersong so I put off reading it a little longer than necessary. I am so upset that I did.

Jae-Jones has brought us a strong, brave female lead that is selfless and full of love. The Goblin King holds my heart as well as Elisabeth’s. The two of them together ignite so many feelings in my heart. Their passion, love, guilt, anger, all of it, we feel it right along with them. Jae-Jones portrays them and their emotions perfectly.

This is one book that I did NOT want to put down whilst reading and that I did NOT want to end, period. I recommend it to anyone looking for a heart wrenching love story for the ages.

Review: When All the Girls Have Gone (Cutler, Sutter, and Salinas #1) by Jayne Ann Krentz

Buy the Book:

Book Details:

352 Pages

Published: November 29, 2016

Authors: Jayne Ann Krentz

Synopsis: Jayne Ann Krentz, the New York Times bestselling author of Secret Sisters, delivers a thrilling novel of the deceptions we hide behind, the passions we surrender to, and the lengths we’ll go to for the truth…

When Charlotte Sawyer is unable to contact her step-sister, Jocelyn, to tell her that one her closest friends was found dead, she discovers that Jocelyn has vanished.

Beautiful, brilliant—and reckless—Jocelyn has gone off the grid before, but never like this. In a desperate effort to find her, Charlotte joins forces with Max Cutler, a struggling PI who recently moved to Seattle after his previous career as a criminal profiler went down in flames—literally. Burned out, divorced and almost broke, Max needs the job.

After surviving a near-fatal attack, Charlotte and Max turn to Jocelyn’s closest friends, women in a Seattle-based online investment club, for answers. But what they find is chilling…

When her uneasy alliance with Max turns into a full-blown affair, Charlotte has no choice but to trust him with her life. For the shadows of Jocelyn’s past are threatening to consume her—and anyone else who gets in their way…

Opinion: This was a very interesting read. There were things that were known and you kinda thought you knew it all so I was dissapointed in the lack of the element of surprise. Then at the end, turns out there are a whole bunch of loose ends that you thought you knew but you really didn’t. It’s a murder mystery so it’s nice to have that unknown after you thought it was predictable.

The story is told from multiple POV’s and I found at times that it was a little hard to follow along, but not enough to where I was confused or had no idea what was happening.

I really enjoyed the additionally connection of Charlotte and Max. I think it gave the story a little something extra and a release from the murder drama. Their characters worked really well together and had that instant spark. It didn’t feel like they were just thrown together. I will admit, I think the ending was a little out there and not necessary between the two of them. No spoilers but it felt a little rushed and just tapped on the end.

I liked that the killer was someone you would never expect to be a serial rapist/serial killer. A lot of times that is the reason they are never brought to justice. They can buy their way out of the situation or make it appear that it was someone else. The concept of the “club” was a little wacky to me. But power to women, whatever. I get it.

I already have a copy of the next installment in the series so I am looking forward to picking it up and continuing the story of Cutler, Sutter, and Salinas!

Published: July 2, 2018

Author: Brandy Woods Snow

Synopsis: Rayne Davidson is perfectly happy fading into the background. Her mama’s antics garner enough attention in their small Southern town for the both of them, but when Rayne catches the eye of all-star QB, Preston Howard, she’s enamored with the possibilities. Too bad Preston doesn’t make her heart thump—but his brother does.

Gage Howard doesn’t mind the town’s stares, probably because he doesn’t get them. Growing up in his older brother’s shadow, Gage shrugs off the endless parade of girls Preston brings home—until Rayne.

But there are unwritten rules that shouldn’t be broken, like cheating on your boyfriend or betraying your brother. Rayne and Gage deny their growing attraction, neither willing to hurt Preston—until the town finds out.

They think overcoming the gossip will be the hardest obstacle.

They’re wrong.

Rayne’s mama has a secret, and its revelation could divide the town, the families, and the new couple.

Can love really exist if it’s all built on a lie?

Review: My heart is done. Brandy Woods Snow wrecked me with Meant to be Broken. So many emotions, twists and turns, it sounds gut wrenching from the synopsis? Don’t worry, nothing is as it seems. I am not saying it is not gut wrenching period, I am saying it is more than you could imagine. Buckle up buttercup.

We’ve got a little love triangle that plays out throughout the novel. I know some don’t like those, so here is your heads up. Personally, this was the wildest love triangle roller coaster I’ve ever been on with a book, and so worth it. I am still reeling.

Preston, Gage, and Rayne are a total handful. Preston is that college bound boy who has his life planned out and parents who definitely don’t like you. Gage is that rebel, totally misunderstood, maybe acting out a little, bad boy that everyone loves. And Rayne is the smart, witty, introverted girl who gets pushed around by her “best friend.” Sound familiar? Every school has a Gage, Preston, and Rayne. But how will this story play out?

**Kind of spoiler/kind of not? Skip this paragraph if you don’t want to know about my assumptions pre-read** I was so convinced that Gage and Rayne were siblings and that Rayne’s mom had an affair with their dad. I am so glad I was wrong because I had no idea where the book was going to go if that was the case because WEIRD.

I am interested in seeing how Snow continues the series. I am definitely interested in some follow-ups/novels about Preston, Jaycee, maybe Preston and Gage’s dad even?

Definitely take some time to check out the book trailer that I linked up above. Meant to be Broken is a heart breaking and then mending, and then breaking, and then mending (you get the point?) story you do not want to miss out on.

Review: Wet (Honor Bound #5) by Angel Payne

I received a copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Links to Purchase:

Book Details:

358 Pages

Published: February 20, 2018

Author: Angel Payne

Synopsis:  T-Bomb, Tait Bommer’s call-sign, has never described him more accurately. A loose cannon with a penchant for pissing people off, he’s now responsible for a major screw-up during the First Special Forces Group’s most recent mission. His mess has earned him two weeks of mandated R&R on the shores of Kauai, where the ultimatum is clear—straighten up and fly right, or don’t return to active duty. But he’s such a train wreck that even his best friend, Kellan Rush, isn’t happy about having to pull babysitting duty.

When their “vacation” is interrupted by a stranger bearing nothing but a glare, a Bowie knife, and a lot of curves in a tiny bikini, they wonder if the trip hasn’t been hijacked by island spirits. Surely they’ve found a goddess in this dark-haired beauty who not only sees their emotional scars but opens their spirits by exposing her own soul.
“Therapy” takes on new meaning when illicit desires become explosive passion…and their goddess’s sweet submission. Neither man wants to leave the island paradise, a torment that’s intensified when an old adversary threatens to steal their goddess—and rip their friendship apart.

Will Tait and Kellan let jealousy triumph? Or will they unite as brothers at arms for the most important mission of their lives in the name of the greatest cause of all—saving the woman they love?

Opinion: Angel Payne does it again. Who knew a story could be so HOT. Tait, Kellan, and Lani take the Honor Bound series to a whole new level.

I was unsure of how I was going to feel about this one, as it is unlike anything I have ever read before, but Angel did not disappoint!

Angel definitely writes a story that opens your mind to many different possibilities/situations. It’s fun to learn and grow by seeing all aspects of a lifestyle in this amazing series.

Review: The Breakdown by B.A. Paris

Links to Purchase:

Book Details:

328 Pages

Published: July 18, 2017

Author: B.A. Paris

Synopsis: Cass is having a hard time since the night she saw the car in the woods, on the winding rural road, in the middle of a downpour, with the woman sitting inside—the woman who was killed. She’s been trying to put the crime out of her mind; what could she have done, really? It’s a dangerous road to be on in the middle of a storm. Her husband would be furious if he knew she’d broken her promise not to take that shortcut home. And she probably would only have been hurt herself if she’d stopped.

But since then, she’s been forgetting every little thing: where she left the car, if she took her pills, the alarm code, why she ordered a pram when she doesn’t have a baby.

The only thing she can’t forget is that woman, the woman she might have saved, and the terrible nagging guilt.

Or the silent calls she’s receiving, or the feeling that someone’s watching her…

Opinion: I won this book in a Goodreads giveaway LAST year. That is how long it has sat on my shelf and looked me dead in the face. I am so dissapointed that it took me so long to pick The Breakdown up.

The cover is such an attention grabber to me, and it’s not just there for looks, it actually pertains to the story. The title is quite literal on multiple accounts with the main character. Firstly, pertaining to the the car in the woods…. Secondly, you’ll see…

This is a murder mystery drama packed story. It took me until the last quarter of the chapter to realize what was going on and I realized it right around the time the author let us in on it. Meaning I had no idea who the murderer was until we were told who the murder was. I was unable to predict ANYTHING. It was all very hush hush surprise and I applaud the author for this.

I give The Breakdown five stars all the way. I could not put it down and I cannot wait to read more by Paris.

Excerpt Reveal: Tall, Dark and Charming by Erika Wilde

EWTallDarkCharmingCover5x8_HIGHTall, Dark and Charming, an all-new sexy standalone from Erika Wilde, is now LIVE!

Aiden Stone loves life as a bachelor and has no intentions of settling down anytime soon. He has a great job and a career he enjoys, and women adore him . . . except for Daisy Parker, who doesn’t seem fazed by his flirtatious attempts or the sexy smile that normally has panties dropping to the floor. She’s a tougher nut to crack, but the fact that she seems immune to his charm only fascinates him more . . . until one hot unexpected encounter with her blows his mind and gives them both more than just a night of pleasure. Because Daisy is now his baby momma, and his life is about to change in ways he’d never anticipated.

“Enough about work. I say we move on to other pleasures,” Aiden said with a flirtatious gleam in his eyes. “What’ll you have to drink? Your normal white wine spritzer?”
Yep, she really was totally predictable and boring, because that was always her go-to drink during their monthly mixers with clients, or when some of their co-workers went out after work for a cocktail, and he’d obviously noticed her light-weight choice. Her limit was always one, and she was usually the first to leave those social gatherings, citing an early morning.
Predictable and boring had been her life for the past three years because it was a safe place to be, but tonight, being in a different city and away from her normal routine and weighty expectations prompted her to be daring.
“I think I’ll have a Moscow mule,” she said, stepping completely outside of her square little box.
He arched a dark brow, the amusement in his eyes warm and playful. “Wow, walking on the wild side tonight, huh?”
She laughed, the sound huskier than she’d intended. “Sure. Why not.”
“Why not, indeed,” he murmured, looking at her as if he was seeing someone other than the reserved woman he’d worked with the past three years before motioning to the bartender.
“What can I get you two?” the older gentleman asked as he set a small square napkin on the counter in front of each of them.
“Two Moscow mules,” Aiden said, surprising Daisy by ordering one for himself.
“You like them, too?” she asked once the bartender left them to make their drinks. With a mixture of vodka, spicy ginger beer, and lime juice, it was usually an acquired taste.
“Never had one,” he admitted, flashing her a dimpled grin that caused a warm tickle in her belly. “But if you’re taking a walk on the wild side tonight, then I’m joining you.”
She rolled her eyes. “Yeah, I’m such a rebel,” she scoffed, then shook her head at that absurd notion and laughed. “Okay, let’s be real. I’m so not rebellious.”
“I know, which is why I’m not letting you indulge alone,” he teased, leaning his forearm on the countertop. “You know what they say . . . friends don’t let friends get drunk alone.”
Her lips quirked at his explanation. “Umm, can’t say I’ve ever heard that quote before.”
“Just go with it, Daisy,” he encouraged, swiveling his chair so that his body was turned toward her, though she remained sitting straight because if she did rotate her seat his way, his legs would end up bracketing hers. “Besides, I don’t want to be the responsible sober one if you do something crazy, like dance on one of the tabletops. I want to watch and cheer you on.”
Her cheeks warmed at the notion of doing something so impulsive, but mostly at the thought of Aiden encouraging her brazen behavior and having his eyes on her while she shimmied her body and tempted him to end her three year dry spell. Yeah, as if that would ever happen. Judging by the beautiful, sophisticated, svelte women she’d seen him with, she was so not his type.
“So, truthfully?” he said, his voice effectively snapping her out of her little fantasy, even though the residual scrape of her tight, hard nipples against the cups of her bra was distracting as hell. “I’ve always been curious to know what a Moscow mule tasted like.”
“You didn’t have to order one,” she told him with a laugh. “I would have given you a sip of mine.”
“Mmm . . . I don’t think I should be putting my lips on your lips,” he said, his voice dipping sensually low as his gaze skimmed across her mouth before lifting to her eyes again. “Well, not technically, anyways, but if you shared, I might not be able to stop at one taste, and that wouldn’t be fair to you.”
Daisy’s pulse stuttered, then resumed at a faster, more arousing pace. Oh. My. God. Were they even talking about the Moscow mule anymore? She was used to the occasional teasing exchange with Aiden at work where there were a dozen other people around so it never felt personal. But now that it was just the two of them, without anyone else around to buffer his comments and the situation, she wasn’t sure what to make of this more intimate dialogue . . . except to admit that it was making her very aware of how much she missed this kind of connection with a man . . . especially the physical one. And how much she liked Aiden’s attention.
The bartender delivered their drinks, and both she and Aiden picked up their highball glasses and took a sip of the Moscow mule. The taste of vodka was strong, but the spicy ginger beer and lime gave it an interesting twist of flavor. It took Aiden three sips, taken with a furrowed, uncertain brow, before he finally, slowly, nodded his head in approval.
“It’s definitely different, but I like the kick of spice.” He shifted his gaze from the drink, to her. “Who knew beneath those conservative suits you wear that you were a woman who liked a little spice in her life.”
His eyes twinkled mischievously, though there was something more heated simmering beneath the amber hue as he maintained eye contact with her. As if he was testing just how far she’d allow this arousing banter between them to go. If she’d play it off like she normally did, or if she’d dare to take a walk on the wild side, as he’d suggested earlier.
The thought was appealing, especially in a city and environment where no one knew them. Deciding to just go with the flow of flirty conversation and enjoy the evening away from work, obligations, and responsibilities, she took another swallow of her drink and smiled at him. “That’s because you’ve never seen me out of my business attire.”

There is no shame in pleasure. And no love in business.

I have a blind date tonight, and I know with 100% certainty that I’m getting lucky. There shouldn’t be any surprises, not for one as jaded as me, but when I walk into the penthouse suite of L’Etoile, everything changes.

1) For one thing, Bea is heartstoppingly gorgeous. Pale green eyes and endless freckles. Curves I want to spend all night exploring, as if her body was made for me.

2) Her innocence makes me want to use my entire inventory of bedroom tricks on her and then invent a few more.

3) Except that . . . she’s a virgin.

I can initiate her into the world of desire without letting her get attached, can’t I? A few hours of tutoring, and at the end of the night a small fortune will be deposited into my bank account.

Yes, you read that right. There are many words for what I do. After all, mine is the oldest profession. I’m an escort, which means this date is nothing more than a mutually enjoyable transaction.

But once I realize one night with her won’t be enough, I’m the one who’s screwed.
