The Sunshine Blogger Award

Hi guys! I was nominated for The Sunshine Blogger Award by Brit over at Brit Reads Books. I’ve been not so sunshiny this week so this actually gave me a spirit boost and made me feel loads better. Thank you so much! Y’all make sure to check her blog out!

What is the Sunshine Blogger Award?
The Sunshine Blogger Award is given to those who are creative, positive, and inspiring, while spreading sunshine to the blogging community.

How does it work?
-Thank the blogger(s) who nominated you in a blog post and link back to their blog.
-Answer the 11 questions sent by the person who nominated you.
-Nominate 11 new blogs to receive the award and write them 11 new questions.
-List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo in your post and/or on your blog.

Who is your favourite author?

Ohhhh you would ask this one. Favorite author forever and all time that will never change? J.K. Rowling. Hands down, 100%. Favorite author right now that may or may not change? Meredith Wild and Sarah J. Maas.

Favourite series?

Harry Potter. Duh.

Favourite reading spot?

I recently got a sectional from a friend and the corner seat is the place to be. That’s my reading corner. There or in our recliner. I really want to make a reading room or a reading nook later on when we move to a new house.

How many books can you read at once?

I would say three comfortably? One at work, one at home, and then one to read when I need a break from the other two.

New or used books?

I prefer new overall, but I like the price a whole lot better on used. I really only buy books from Goodwill or a resale shop like Half-Price Books if I have been dying to read those books already.

Last movie you saw?

In theaters, I think would be Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. I know, I know, I never go to the movies. A Friend paid for me to go see that one so I wouldn’t be sitting at home by myself when I started my 8-5 job and my fiance was working 3-11.

At home, I was watching Daddy’s Home this weekend on Hulu because it is probable one of my overall favorites. Will Ferrell is my main man. I just think he is so funny. I’m probably going to watch Elf when I get home now just because Will Ferrell.

Sweet or salty?

First, in my head I said sweet. But then I started thinking about pickles and chips and all things salty. So I’m going to have to go with salty because I’d rather have salt and vinegar chips over chocolate any day.

What kind of bookmark do you use?

I use a bookmark from Barnes and Noble. But the weird part is that I don’t remove the plastic covering that you buy it in. I keep the bookmark in the bookmark holder(?) I guess because its not as flimsy? I don’t know, I just don’t want to tear a $3 bookmark I guess.

Have you ever marked a book as DNF?

I did this month for the first time ever and I think that’s why I’m in a slump. I feel so bad about it, I don’t know why. I feel like I need to finish reading it even though I didn’t like it and it wouldn’t get a good review…

Favourite genre(s)?

YA FANTASYYYYY all the way. I think Romance is becoming a top contender as I get older as well and my tastes start to evolve.

If you could become any book character who would it be and why?

If I could be any book character, I’m going to narrow this down more and say out of the books I’ve read this year, I would be Feyre Archeron. Why? Because she overcomes so much, i.e. poverty, emotional abuse, physiological abuse, literal torture, and war. She comes out stronger. She finds her voice and she uses it. She faces her fears and she conquers them. Sarah J. Maas wrote a story about a strong, powerful woman that other women can look up to.

The Blogger Recognition Award

Thank you Katiria over at Kati’s Bookaholic Rambling Reviews for tagging me in this awesome award! I greatly appreciate it and I just absolutely love getting tagged in things. It definitely helps spice everything up a little bit from memes and reviews!

The Rules:

  • Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
  • Write a post to show your award.
  • Give a brief story of how your blog started.
  • Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers.
  • Select 15 other bloggers you want to give this award to.
  • Comment on each blog and let them know you have nominated them & provide the link to the post you created. (Please make sure you do this step! I never know when someone tags me in things until I check the referral clicks in my stats.)

How I Started: I don’t really have some cool story about how I started, but I’ll enlighten y’all anyway. I started a new job back in June and had more time, time I utilized by tackling my TBR shelf. After reading so many books I thought, “Why not write about what I’m reading so that other people can enjoy it, too?” I did a little research and took bits and pieces that I really liked from other blogs I follow, such as their awesome sections explaining their review processes to authors and publishers or their main menu set ups. I actually started over on Blogger, but I do a lot of maintenance from my mobile device and Blogger was NOT mobile device friendly, to me anyway.

It’s been a lot of trial and error and if you really keep up with my posts then you’ve probably noticed that I change my blog theme about once a week. I’ve only been blogging for about two months now but I absolutely love it.

My Advice: I think my best advice would be to not be scared. My blogs aren’t the most articulate or grammatically correct. I almost always find a spelling or sentence structure error when I reread the post a day after I put it up. But no one is going to call you out on it. Yeah it’s a little embarrassing but you fix it and move on. Have fun with it and don’t be super crazy serious. Be yourself. People love that.

I also advise anyone looking to start their own blog to interact with other bloggers. Find people that really speak to you and get you to open up. Have conversations in the comments sections. The book blogging community isn’t a hard one to fit into but it definitely is more fun when you get to interact with others.

The One Lovely Blog Award

I was nominated by Ashley over at Thrifty Bibliophile. Thank you for the nomination. How exciting!!

The Rules:

  • Thank the person who nominated you and link to their blog.
  • Post about the award.
  • Share 7 facts about yourself.
  • Nominate (up to) 15 people.
  • Let your nominees know you’ve nominated them.

Fact 1

I have two dogs, no kids (I’m only twenty-two so that’s fine by me.) They are brats. Big time. They have minds of their own. It’s kind of scary actually. One time we came home and the peanut butter jar was on the ground with the lid taken off and all the peanut butter eaten out of it. Not chewed off, but twisted off. Dog or ghost? Who knows.

Fact 2

Both of my parents have been divorced three times and remarried four times, all before I turned 18. I had an exciting childhood. I’ve had 5 step-parents (my mom was married once before my dad and I’m not counting my parents marriage to each other, so there’s the other 3 if you were counting.)

Fact 3

I am a HUGE extrovert. I like making friends, but I can come off a little strong. I met my college roommate by barging in her room right after she got out of the shower to tell her I liked her comforter that I saw through the crack in her door. She was wearing a towel. i scared her.

Fact 4

I only drink in excess on two holidays a year. Why? I don’t know. That’s just how it works out. Usually the Fourth of July and New Years. The two holidays with explosives so that I can blow myself up, I guess. I just don’t like drinking. If I drink any other time throughout the year I only have one of two. Sorry to disappoint.

Fact 5

I have chronic b**ch face. It’s a blessing and a curse. Like I said above, I am a huge extrovert. But it has become known that I scare people until they get to know me. I’ve been told I’m intimidating. I tell it like it is, always in the nicest way possible. Some people don’t like that. I’ll be honest, sometimes I don’t even like it when people do it to me. But I would always rather have someone be honest with me than sugar coat things and make it seem better than it really is.

Fact 6

I have only read one series more than once in my life as an avid book reader. You may be thinking it’s Harry Potter because of my bio. It’s not. It’s A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas. I love Harry Potter but I think I’m obsessed with ACOTAR. It’s bad. I may need to seek help. Stay tuned.

Fact 7

I have never lived anywhere other than in Texas. No, we don’t ride horses to school. Yes, sometimes we do ride them to DQ. Or Allsups. If you don’t know what Allsups is, you’re missing out.

My Tagees

Amanda (Peaks and Pages), Brittany (Brit Reads Books), and Devyn (Spineless Bookwyrm).
