A Court of Wings and Ruin (A Court of Thorns and Roses #3) by Sarah J. Maas

A Court of Wings and Ruin

If you know me, then you know I love this series. This is all I’m asking my fiance for for Christmas this year. The box edition of the ACOTAR series and a new bookshelf.

I’ve already ACOWAR once before and I’m on my second go round so I’m picking quotes that stand out to me anyway for my review post. I’m only on page 150 though so I’ll share with you the quotes I have so far.

The first quote is from Feyre. She listed off the names of her family, her reasons for doing what she had to do to Tamlin and her reasons to make it home to the Night Court. You see it on a lot of popular fandom shirts. I unfortunately don’t have my own yet.

Rhysand. Mor. Cassian. Amren. Azriel. Elain. Nesta.

I LOVE FEYRE AND RHYSAND. Obviously. But I love their love, their friendship, their support of each other, all of it. So this quote really stood out to showing the difference in their relationship from others, such as Feyre and Tamlin’s.

I missed you. Every second, every breath. Not just this but… talking to you. Laughing with you. I missed having you in my bed, but I missed having you as my friend more.

One more, one more. This one, to me, really shows the similarities between Elain and Feyre. We get to see a new side to Elain that we haven’t seen before.

Perhaps that was why she now kept all the curtains open. To fill the void that existed where all of the light had once been.

The Flawed Ones – A Story of Mental Illness, Addiction and Love by Jay Chirino

The Flawed Ones - A Story of Mental Illness, Addiction and Love

I just started reading this book today and I’m only 50 pages in. I’m reading a PDF version from the author on my computer, not on my Kindle, so I can’t highlight sentences that stand out to me. Honestly, I forgot it was Thursday, too. I’m slacking today guys.

But here goes nothing. I’m going to pick a few quotes that stand out to me, or try to remember to so that I can get this post up today. Hang tight.

This quote is from the preface. It stood out to me and pulled me in. I wasn’t sure, I wouldn’t say about the book, but about the story itself. I’ve read Thirteen Reasons Why but nothing else that talks about coping with depression, suicidal thoughts, etc.

You are not alone; you are not the failure that you think you are. You are not what other people want to convince you that you think you are.

Another quote that really stood out to me was a quote Jay made during a session with his therapist, Dr. Patel, in reference to God,

I’m angry at the way we appropriate God and use him as a crutch to
not see what is right in front of us. I’m angry at the way we think
God thinks, and how we express our own judgments through God’s
voice, as if he was a simple hand puppet. We use him to carry out our
agenda, to instill our way of justice on others, to separate families, to
create division, to hate. I’m not angry at God because I do not
believe that God would approve of most things that people do in his
name, because I see God through my eyes and no one else’s.

So far, this has been these were most impactful quotes that I have read. As I continue reading, I’ll try to remember to save quotes for the review post.

A Court of Mist and Fury

A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J Maas (Affiliate Link)

For my Quotables this week, first, Rhys being Rhys:

Rhysand merely raised a brow. “I already have everything I want.” He stepped around Tamlin as if he were a piece of furniture and took my hand.

And here’s a sentence from Feyre, about reading, that really spoke to me on a personal level:

But it had filled my time – given me quiet, steadfast company with those characters who did not exist and never would, but somehow made me feel less…alone.

And finally, a quote that quite literally broke my heart for Feyre:

It’s just been a relief to think that for a moment, he might have been as lonely as me.
