Synopsis:

How far would you go to protect your daughter?

Carolyn, Bronnie, Elise, and Kendall are bound together by one thing—their four daughters are best friends at the highly competitive Orla Flynn Academy for the Performing Arts. Last year the foursome exploded because of brutal bullying between the girls, but they’ve since forgiven each other. The mothers, however, haven’t been able to move on. When new threats surface and “accidents” begin to happen—just as a mysterious new girl enters the scene—the mothers take matters into their own hands. But they will have to risk their own secrets being exposed if they stand a chance at uncovering the truth.

Opinion:

I was gifted a copy of The Understudy by Serial Box in order to read and give an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Classic case of who-done-it, right here ladies and gentlemen. The best part though is you literally don’t know. There are so many options, so many people you mind takes you to, and none are correct.

The book is set in London at a performing art school and is told from the view point of the mothers, Carolyn, Bronnie, Kendall, and Elise, of four of the students. Ruby, Bel, Sadie, and Jess are going into their second year when things begin to go awry. With the introduction of a fifth girl into the mix, the bullying begins. With the unveiling of new information around every corner, who is the aggressor, and more importantly, why?

I thoroughly enjoyed The Uprising. When I saw B.A. Paris, I jumped on it. This book had me questioning if I was the bully?? What had I done to set the chain of events in motion?? <Insert laughy face> It did start out a little slow for me, but easy enough to push through. Also, it is set like a ten episode series? So, I thought that was weird but it did not affect my reading at all.

I only gave it four stars because it was not a book that I literally could not put down. I read it over about two weeks in between reading other books. It was definitely an easy, thought provoking read.

Synopsis:

This is war…

We’re still running. Surviving. I refuse to stop until we’re free of the shadow that’s been hunting us. The price could be our lives, or watching Isabel change before my eyes. Her heart’s hardened from the things she’s seen…the things she’s done. But no matter how much blood stains our hands, no matter how long the nightmares haunt us, we have to stay ready for whatever comes next.

As my lost memories come to the surface, I can see more clearly than ever what we’re fighting for. The life Isabel and I once knew. The love we were robbed of. The future we could still have. But we can’t do this alone. Old friends and new allies join the cause, drawing our enemies into the light and raising the stakes. When a simple plan paves the way for the fight of our lives, I realize this is more than we bargained for.

This is war.

Opinion:

As I continue reading this series, I find it so hard to not sound like a broken record when writing my reviews. Meredith’s attention to detail is exquisite. There are no “loose ends.” We May be left with cliff hangers, but Meredith ties everything together so perfectly. I was kind of able to foresee something happening in this novel, I could imagine how it was going to play out, and Meredith still took me for a ride. Nothing, and no one, is as it seems. I can’t wait for Revenge. Especially after that ending?? I can’t.

Review: The Red Ledger: Part 7 by Meredith Wild

Book Details:

Pages: 108

Synopsis:

No one else can stop them…

I’ve never loved Tristan more. I’ve never trusted him less. Is it murder in his eyes or just jealousy when he insists we’ll find answers in Boston, headquarters of one of our greatest enemies and home to the man I left back in Rio?

I haven’t forgotten Kolt’s betrayal nor the blood that’s already been spilled between our families. Inviting him back into my life with the promise of settling our unfinished business is a dangerous gamble that could end in more bloodshed.

But as his family’s twisted plan starts to unfold, nothing can prepare me for the horror of what will happen if I do nothing. More people will die, and every death will serve a dark purpose. Tristan and I may be an army of two, but one thing is certain—if we can’t save them, no one will.

Opinion:

Just when you think The Red Ledger can’t get any better, we get a Hacker crossover.

Tristan and Isabel are still on the hunt to take down the people that have forever changed their lives for the worse. As they get closer to infiltrating Chapter Eleven and those working for them, they also get closer to, hopefully, finding a way to restore Tristan’s memories.

Part 7 was a very almost depressing ride for me. I love Tristan’s flash backs, but it was very full of the pain not having ones memories can cause in a relationship. Wanting them back, but then again almost not wanting them back because of the effects it will have/not have. Just very push and pull with my emotions.

I can’t wait for part eight. It feels like we’re getting so close to the end and Tristan and Isabel getting to lead a normal happy life together. I can’t wait to see what Paris has in store for everyone involved.

But, anyway, still here, still kicking.

Much love,

Opinion:

The men of Honor Bound always leave me wanting more, and I’m happy to say that Angel signed on for two more books in the series!

I’m so glad we finally got Franzen’s story! And equally as glad that he met Tracy. This story is such a suspenseful, dramatic addition to the series, and I loved every minute of it.

The ROMANCE in Ruled is unlike any of the others. It’s as unique as the characters and I found it really helped me understand the BDSM dynamic.

If you are late to the Angel Payne train, it’s not too late to hop on! Start with the Honor Bound series today!

Can this be read as a standalone?
The characters are introduced in other stories but this is definitely their story. So could be read without reading others in the series.

Opinion:

In the last six months or so I have discovered a new love for poetry. To say I was excited when Ms. Smith reached out to me with the opportunity to read Wild Flowers would be an understatement. If you enjoy works such as Rupi Kaur’s Milk and Honey or The Sun and Her Flowers, you will enjoy Wild Flowers.

As I read, I took screenshots and saved lines that spoke to me deeply. I’d love to share some of those with you now.

I found myself craving more and could not believe I had reached the end quite as quickly as I did. Wild Flowers is next to impossible to put down. It is a quick, but extremely emotional, read. I recommend to anyone looking for their next poetic read.
