Synopsis

Brooke Devereaux has a lot she wants to escape from: a career she never asked for, a future she doesn’t want, and parents who’ve only ever seen her as a business opportunity. But in her desire to experience life, she quickly realizes she’s lacking in one very important skill: how to survive on her own.

Former soldier Cole Timmons is an expert at running away. Whether it’s from his rural hometown, his alcoholic father, or painful memories, Cole doesn’t hesitate to leave.

Until he encounters an out-of-place woman at a gas station in the middle of nowhere. The wealthy “princess” couldn’t be more different from the country loner, and the pair get off to a rocky, misadventurous start.

But sometimes exteriors are armors meant to deceive. Sometimes what’s beneath reveals more than anyone ever realized. Sometimes, in order to stop running away, a person simply needs to find something to run toward.

Misadventures is a romantic series of spicy standalone novels, each written or co-written by some of the best names in romance. The stories are scandalous, refreshing, and, of course, incredibly sexy. They’re the perfect bedside read, a ‘quick blush’ for the reader who loves a page-turning romance.

Meet the Author
Elizabeth Hayley is actually “Elizabeth” and “Hayley,” two friends who love reading romance novels to obsessive levels. This mutual love prompted them to put their English degrees to good use by penning their own. They learned a ton about each other through the process, like how they clearly share a brain and have a persistent need to text each other constantly. They live with their husbands and kids in a Philadelphia suburb. Thankfully, their children are still too young to read.

Opinion:

Alright, alright, alrightttttt. Cole and Brooke. Possibly my new favorite Misadventures couple. We’ve got two people running from what’s wrong in their lives and coming together to find what they were missing. We’ve got mystery, adventure, drama, and just an overall captivating mix.

Cole, our steamy main man, is fresh out of the Army, on a journey to visit his friend in Oregon, when he runs into Brooke at a gas station. Brooke, well, we don’t know much about Brooke, without spoiling the story that is. But, we do know she’s stranded without a car at the gas station where Cole stops for gas and coffee. Good guy Cole offers Brooke a ride, and so we embark on our journey.

Elizabeth Hayley is actually two women, Elizabeth and Hayley. They have such a unique writing style, as they write together, but the story flows seamlessly. I felt a connection to Brooke and Cole that I haven’t felt with the characters I’ve read about lately. Elizabeth Hayley made Brooke and Cole relatable to, in my opinion, anyone who has never felt whole or fulfilled, like they were missing something or just have never felt good enough. I’m sad to let Brooke and Cole go, but I cannot wait to continue on my Misadventures journey and get my hands on Elizabeth Hayley’s next installment in the series.

Synopsis: ***MISADVENTURES ARE STANDALONE ROMANCES THAT CAN BE READ IN ANY ORDER***

Blake Monroe hasn’t had the easiest life, but she’s never been one to dwell on her misfortunes, preferring to see the world as a place where you get what you give.

Having had an especially troubling childhood, Blake’s aware she doesn’t exactly fit the definition of “normal.” Her lack of filter, dry sense of humor, and uncanny ability to read people make her rather unique—and difficult to live with. When her latest roommate has had enough of her antics, Blake decides living with a man might suit her better.

Gavin Gibson’s a dreamer whose artsy aspirations don’t meet the high expectations of his wealthy family. Cast off and cut off, Gavin needs a place to live. When he’s invited to share Blake’s quaint apartment, he cannot pass it up. With a knack for spotting the good in others, Gavin can see past Blake’s quirks—and neither of them can ignore their sexual chemistry.

As sparks fly, their genuine affection for each other grows, and Gavin begins to break down Blake’s defenses. But can Blake open up to reveal the damage she’s worked so hard to conceal?

Opinion: I would describe this book as a slow burn. We didn’t really get our first “scene” until 25% through, which is a bit of a change from some of the other Misadventures I have read.

Blake is a bit of a wild card. I think that’s one of the best ways to describe her. She’s definitely out there. I didn’t “click” with her at first, so it took me a few chapters to really get into the story. Gavin is more calm and collected.

I really enjoyed Blake’s backstory. It really helped explain her character and her coping methods. I liked the hints that things weren’t as they seemed because it really helped give the story that depth I felt it was missing.

Gavin and Blake are probably the cutest. I love their batty, comedic relationship. I think they both brought out the best in each other. They also helped each other overcome previous obstacles, which is super important in any relationship.

This is a strangers to friends to lovers story that you definitely don’t want to miss. Make sure you check out this Misadventure!

Elizabeth Hayley is actually “Elizabeth” and “Hayley,” two friends who love reading romance novels to obsessive levels. This mutual love prompted them to put their English degrees to good use by penning their own. The product is Pieces of Perfect, their debut novel. They learned a ton about one another through the process, like how they clearly share a brain and have a persistent need to text each other constantly (much to their husbands’ chagrin).

“Elizabeth” lives with her husband, daughter, and nutjob of a dog. “Hayley” lives with her husband, son, and her own crazy dog. Thankfully, their children are still too young to read.

Elizabeth Hayley’s writing motto is best captured by the words of Patrick Dennis: “I always start with a clean piece of paper and a dirty mind.”
